Masterclass Workshop - Block Lino Printing

Island Stars Masterclass Workshops are designed to deepen your understanding of the rich traditions and stories of the Torres Strait Islands while creating your very own masterpiece! In these interactive and engaging sessions, you’ll learn Traditional Torres Strait Islander Dance, Block Lino Printing or Torres Strait Islander Weaving. Please note: Minimum numbers must be met for Workshop to be held. 

Block Lino Print Workshop:

In this workshop, Joey will share the techniques of block lino printing, a method that allows you to create bold, intricate designs. You’ll learn how to carve your own designs into lino blocks, drawing inspiration from traditional Torres Strait Islander symbols, patterns, and cultural motifs. As you carve and print, you’ll gain an understanding of how art can preserve and communicate the rich stories, history, and identity of the Torres Strait Islands, while also developing your own artistic skills.

For participants that have previous experience in block lino printing or attended a session before, come along and learn new skills, add vibrant colours to your already-created masterpieces and enjoy the company of creative like-minded people.
